Summary. The review rating, the analyst ranking and the named customer result a homepage shows to buyers also line up with how often AI engines name the brand, but only for brands in the middle of their category. Siege Media scored the homepages of 585 brands for proof points of that kind and set the counts against each brand's AI visibility, in a study published on October 26, 2026, under the title "CRO is GEO". Among mid-authority brands, those with five or more proof points had 62% more AI visibility than similar brands with none. Among high-authority brands the study found no clear link. Siege Media itself calls the result correlational.
The obvious objection is that stronger brands simply collect more badges and more AI mentions at the same time. Siege Media checked. The relationship held after it controlled for Domain Rating and organic traffic, and the study still says it does not show that adding proof points causes the visibility.
Credibility: MEDIUM. The primary study is named, dated and carries a methodology section. It is also Siege Media's own analysis, no second outlet has covered it, and Siege Media sells GEO services, so the author has a commercial interest in the finding. The homepage scoring was AI-assisted; on a sample, a second scorer matched it at 0.90 rank correlation. The mid-authority group that produced the 62% is 197 brands.
Facts
- Sample: homepages of 585 brands (520 unique sites) across 63 categories tracked in Peec AI. AI visibility is the share of tracked prompts in which the brand was mentioned by engines including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, measured September 20 to October 19, 2026.
- Scoring counted only proof points that name a source, platform or figure, across nine types: review ratings, analyst or best-of rankings, press mentions, named customer results, case studies, customer logos, scale statistics, original research, and security or compliance certifications.
- 'Mid-authority' means the middle third of brands by Ahrefs Domain Rating within each category. For them, AI visibility rose with the number of proof points from zero until about five, then flattened. For high-authority brands the study found no obvious link.
- The relationship held after controlling for Domain Rating and organic traffic. Siege Media states it does not show that adding proof points causes higher visibility.

For marketing leads at mid-sized brands that bigger rivals out-rank on reputation, this correlational study is cheap to act on, because the work pays for itself on the buyer side first. The study's own title makes the point: the proof points are conversion work before they are anything else. If the AI link turns out to be nothing, you still put sourced evidence in front of the people deciding whether to buy.
The counting rule is the part worth copying. Only proof points that name a source, a platform or a figure were scored, so a line like "loved by thousands of teams" names no source and would not have counted. The curve also flattens after about five, so a twelfth logo in the carousel is a design decision; the study's curve gives it no extra credit. If your brand is already the default name in its category, the study gives you nothing to do here.
The numbers deserve some modesty. The 62% comes from 197 brands, scored with AI help, by an agency that sells the service. Read it as a direction worth testing, and measure the test with the AI-visibility tracker you already run, next to conversion data.
- Ask the web team to list the sourced proof points on the homepage today (review rating and count, analyst placement, named customers, certifications) and mark which ones name a source.
- Add the missing ones with a direct link to the issuing party, and place text next to every award image so it can be read without the image.
- Record the change date and compare the tracker's share of voice for the affected prompts over the following 8 to 12 weeks, alongside homepage conversion.
