AI Recommends Belotero and Radiesse in Singapore — Without Naming Merz
Merz is the family-owned German group behind Xeomin, Belotero, Radiesse and Ultherapy — brands Singapore clinics use every day. Yet in Singapore search, merz.com is credited with about 36 monthly visits across seven ranked terms, against 977 across 63 for Galderma.
When we asked AI assistants which fillers Singapore clinics use, they named Belotero and Radiesse — and never said Merz makes them. Asked where to buy Belotero locally, the assistant listed five clinics and no manufacturer. Your products are the recommendation; your company is not.
Merz was named in three of five scored questions and cited as a source in two. In the wider body of AI answers, Galderma's site is referenced 1,110 times to Merz's 81. The demand exists and the products are trusted — what is missing is the line connecting them back to you.
| Domain | Ranked Keywords | Est. Traffic (ETV) | #1 Positions | #2-3 | #4-10 |

ChatGPT Names Your Products, Then Sends Buyers to Five Clinics
Six prompts across ChatGPT and Google AI Overview, Singapore market, live web search
ChatGPT Query Results
| Prompt Type | Query | Mentioned? | Who Was Cited |
|---|---|---|---|
| Branded | What is Merz Aesthetics and what products do they offer in Singapore? | Yes | Cited merz.com and merzaesthetics.com.sg. Described Merz accurately as a German family-owned medical aesthetics group. |
| Competitor-branded (diagnostic only) | What is Galderma and what aesthetic and dermatology products do they offer in Singapore? | No | Cited galderma.com, galdermaaesthetics.com.sg and galdermahcp.com. Named Restylane, Sculptra, Cetaphil and Alastin. Excluded from scoring — a good answer about Galderma should stay on Galderma. |
| Category — dermal fillers | What are the best dermal filler brands available at aesthetic clinics in Singapore? | No | Named Belotero and Radiesse among eight filler brands, with no maker attached to either. Cited marieclaire.co.uk and sgac.com.sg. |
| Category — anti-wrinkle injections | Which botulinum toxin brands are used for anti-wrinkle injections in Singapore, and how do they differ? | Yes | Xeomin listed with Merz named as manufacturer. Sources were ndf.gov.sg, verywellhealth.com and allure.com — not one Merz-owned page. |
| Comparison | Merz vs Galderma vs Allergan Aesthetics: how do these companies compare on products, science and reputation? | Yes | Cited merz.com alongside allerganaesthetics.com and galderma.com. Merz framed as 'precision, innovation, premium niche positioning'. |
| Long-tail / transactional | Where can I get a Belotero dermal filler treatment in Singapore and roughly what does it cost? | No | Five Singapore clinics named (Bay Aesthetics, Halley, Dr Daniel Chang, Radium, Dermstetiq). Cited bayclinic.sg and halley.com.sg. |
Six prompts, all run with live web search in the Singapore market. Merz was named in three of the five scored prompts and merz.com was cited as a source in two of them — the competitor-branded prompt is diagnostic only and is excluded from the denominator. The pattern inside those numbers matters more than the ratio: Merz surfaces whenever the question already contains its name, and drops out the moment the question is about the treatment. On the filler question the assistant recommended Belotero and Radiesse as products and attributed neither to Merz. On the buying question it routed the customer to five clinics. Small sample, consistent direction: the products carry the demand, the company is not attached to it.
Google AI Overview Results

| Branded | What is Merz Aesthetics and what products do they offer in Singapore? | Yes | #7 (merz.com) | merzaesthetics.com (#2), merzaesthetics.com.sg (#5), careers.merz-aesthetics.com (#6), merzaesthetics.com.sg PDF (#8) |
| Competitor-branded (diagnostic only) | What is Galderma and what aesthetic and dermatology products do they offer in Singapore? | Yes | Absent from top 20 | galderma.com (#3), galdermaaesthetics.com.sg, beautyinsider.sg, edb.gov.sg |
| Category — dermal fillers | What are the best dermal filler brands available at aesthetic clinics in Singapore? | Yes | Absent from top 20 | theogeeclinic.com, sgac.com.sg, elissaaesthetics.com.sg, halley.com.sg — Singapore clinic sites |
| Category — anti-wrinkle injections | Which botulinum toxin brands are used for anti-wrinkle injections in Singapore, and how do they differ? | Yes | Absent from top 20 | baclinic.sg, zoemedical.sg, sw1clinic.com, pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov |
| Comparison | Merz vs Galderma vs Allergan Aesthetics: how do these companies compare? | Yes | #10 (merzaesthetics.com) | allerganaesthetics.com (#14), pipelinemedical.com, fiercepharma.com, marketsandmarkets.com |
| Long-tail / transactional | Where can I get a Belotero dermal filler treatment in Singapore and roughly what does it cost? | No | #1 (merzaesthetics.com.sg) | halley.com.sg, sozoclinic.sg, icaremedical.com.sg, health365.sg |
Google generated an AI Overview on five of the six queries, and no Merz-owned domain was recorded among the sources of any of them. Two rows carry the real story. On the brand's own name, merz.com places seventh — behind merzaesthetics.com at #2, merzaesthetics.com.sg at #5 and the careers job board at #6, so the brand competes with itself for its own search result. On the Belotero buying query, merzaesthetics.com.sg ranks first in Singapore and the AI assistant answering the same question still named five clinics instead. Ranking first and being cited first are now two separate contests.
Citation Surface Analysis
| Platform | Presence | Strength | Notable |
|---|---|---|---|
| YouTube | Yes | 5.37K subscribers | 117 videos; top video 2,869,981 views. Largest of the three manufacturer channels (Galderma 3.9K / 113 videos, Allergan Aesthetics US 803 / 89). No Singapore or APAC-only channel. |
| Yes | 116K followers (global) | @merzaesthetics_apac 16.9K, @merzaesthetics_sg 2.3K — the Singapore account is ahead of Galderma SG (1.4K). Global account trails Allergan (150.5K) and Galderma (136.8K). | |
| Yes | 5,190 indexed results | Galderma 16,400, Allergan Aesthetics 1,560. The top Merz threads are unowned: a critique of the Xeomin commercial and a 'Radiesse lasted 2 months, not 12-15' review. | |
| Wikipedia | Yes | 37 indexed results, 3 articles | The Merz Pharma article is what Google uses to answer 'Is Merz Aesthetics a big company?' in People Also Ask — a third-party page, not a Merz page. |
| Healthline | Passing | 81 indexed results | Healthline is the #2 cited domain in the Singapore dermal-filler AI answer set (311 mentions). Merz appears inside its articles, never as the source. |
| Yes | 2.1M indexed results | Supplies Google's People Also Ask answer for 'What does Merz Aesthetics do?' | |
| Glassdoor | Yes | 3.7 / 5 (159 reviews) | Galderma 4.0 / 5. The Glassdoor page ranks #10 on the branded 'Merz Aesthetics Singapore' search. |
| HardwareZone (SG forum) | No | 206 results, 0 brand-relevant | Every indexed result is a homonym — the German chancellor and local slang for Mercedes-Benz. This is not a presence. |
| Beauty Insider SG | Minimal | 5 indexed results | Merz appears only in passing, as a clinic's named training partner. |
Merz has audience. What it does not have is citation. Across the three category corpora we pulled — dermal fillers, botulinum toxin and medical aesthetics — not one manufacturer domain appears among the top cited sources, in the global cut or the Singapore cut. Not Merz, not Galderma, not Allergan. The sources AI reaches for are video, medical institutions, consumer health publishers, community threads and, in Singapore specifically, individual clinic sites. That is an open category, and Merz enters it with the biggest manufacturer channel on the platform that leads every list.
Citation Source Landscape
| Domain | Type | Appears For | Merz Present? | Opportunity |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| www.youtube.com | Video platform | Fillers, toxins, medical aesthetics — #1 in every cut, global and Singapore | Yes — 5.37K subs, 117 videos | Largest owned channel of the three; the audience is real but the content is not built to answer treatment questions |
| my.clevelandclinic.org | Medical institution | Fillers (233 SG mentions), toxins (82 SG mentions) | No | Clinical explainer format — the shape of page AI reaches for on 'how does it work' questions |
| www.healthline.com | Consumer health publisher | Fillers — #2 in the Singapore cut (311 mentions) | Mentioned inside articles (81 results) | Already writes about Merz products; a natural source-of-record relationship |
| www.reddit.com | Community | Fillers (117 SG mentions), medical aesthetics (160 SG mentions) | Yes — 5,190 results, unowned | The two most visible Merz threads are complaints; nobody from the brand is in them |
| pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov | Clinical literature | Botulinum toxin — top-10 globally and in Singapore | No | Merz sponsors consensus work; none of it is surfacing as a cited source |
| en.wikipedia.org | Reference | Toxins, medical aesthetics; powers Google's People Also Ask | Yes — Merz Pharma article | Already load-bearing for the brand entity, and entirely third-party controlled |
| Singapore clinic sites | Local practitioner | sgac.com.sg, halley.com.sg, baclinic.sg, mizuaesthetic.com, slclinic.com.sg, idsclinic.com | Only as a product name | These sites are the Singapore answer layer — they name the product and own the customer |
Read the middle column as a map, not a scoreboard. Every one of these domains is answering a question a Merz customer is already asking, and on most of them the Merz product name is already present in the text. The gap is authorship, not awareness.

The Homepage Has No Headline, and It Shifts Six Times More Than It Should
Rendering, hierarchy and structured data across the three domains
Rendering, Bot Access and Delivery
MediumStart with the good news, because it changes what the rest of this section means. merz.com is server-rendered WordPress: every page we pulled returned its full text to a plain request, so answer engines read the content without executing anything. The crawl rules carry no restrictions on AI user agents — nothing is blocked, deliberately or accidentally. The front door is open.
Delivery is where it leaks. The homepage records a CLS of 0.627, more than six times the 0.1 threshold, which means the layout keeps jumping while the page loads. Speed is not the issue — FCP 1.34s and LCP 2.23s are both inside tolerance — so this is a stability problem, and it is what drags the performance grade to 62 against 95 and 82 for the two comparison sites.
Two indexing defects compound it. The sitemap index declares its URLs under http:// while the site serves https://, so every entry is a redirect before it is a page. And the post sitemap returns zero URLs — which is precisely why the Belotero article that ranks in Singapore sits outside both the navigation and the submitted index. The site is telling search engines and answer engines that its best commercial page is not part of the site.

Content Hierarchy and Page Signals
CriticalThe homepage of a global pharmaceutical group ships with no headline element and no page description. An answer engine arriving at merz.com has to infer what the company is from body copy, because the two fields built for exactly that purpose are empty. The Belotero article — the single best-performing commercial page on the domain — has the same gap.
Internal linking is the quieter problem. Three links out of the homepage, one out of the aesthetics page, one out of the news index, against 55 and 42 on the two comparison homepages. A crawler landing on merz.com has almost nowhere to go, and neither does a reader. Language targeting is declared on one page only, for German and US English, with nothing for Singapore — on a domain being assessed for a Singapore audience.
| Signal (5 pages sampled per domain) | merz.com | galderma.com | allerganaesthetics.com |
|---|---|---|---|
| Homepage headline element | None | Present | Present |
| Homepage page description | Empty | Present (1 word) | Present (25 words) |

Structured Data: Ahead of Both Rivals, and Still Anonymous
HighThis one starts as a win. merz.com carries structured data on all five pages we sampled — WebSite, WebPage and SearchAction — and neither comparison domain returned a single structured-data block on any sampled page. Merz is ahead of Galderma and Allergan Aesthetics on machine-readable markup, and that is worth saying plainly.
The problem is which three. Those types describe a website. None of them describes a company, a product, an article or an answer. There is no Organization record tying the Merz name to its logo, its founding, its business units and its verified social profiles — which is why Google is currently answering 'What does Merz Aesthetics do?' from LinkedIn and 'Is Merz Aesthetics a big company?' from Wikipedia. There is no Product record for Xeomin, Belotero, Radiesse or Ultherapy, which is why an assistant can recommend Belotero without ever connecting it to a manufacturer. And 76 news items are published with no article markup at all. The plumbing is in; nothing is running through it.
| Structured data type | merz.com | galderma.com | allerganaesthetics.com | What it would unlock |

744 Words and 40 Images on the Page AI Reads First
Content depth and answer-format coverage across fifteen sampled pages
Content Volume and Text-to-Image Balance
CriticalThe merz.com homepage carries 744 words and 40 images. The aesthetics page — the one that introduces Xeomin, Belotero, Radiesse and Ultherapy — carries 415 words and 37 images. Images are an asset here, not a liability: they drive Google Images, Discover and visual results, and an aesthetics brand should be image-led. But an image only earns a citation when there is text around it telling the machine what it shows. At roughly ten words per image, there is not enough surrounding text to do that.
Allergan Aesthetics runs the opposite extreme: 10,700 to 13,500 words per page across a handful of very deep pages. Galderma sits between, but distributes its depth across 647 URLs. Merz has neither the depth per page nor the page count — and its best-written page, the 773-word Belotero article, is the one hidden from the navigation.
| Page | Words | Images | Subheadings | Internal links |

| merz.com — homepage | 744 | 40 | 7 | 3 |

Question-Answer Content: A First-Mover Lane None of the Three Has Taken
Bright SpotLook at what the AI assistants were actually asked in this audit: which fillers differ how, which toxin brands are used and how they compare, where a treatment costs what. Those are questions. The answer format that wins them is a direct question with a direct answer beneath it — and across all fifteen pages we sampled on all three domains, that format appears on none of them in a dedicated destination. Allergan carries question-shaped text inside its brand pages; Galderma's navigation offers no equivalent destination; merz.com's 115 sitemap URLs contain none.
That is a first-mover position, and it is unusual to find one this clean in a category this mature. The clinics are already filling the vacuum — halley.com.sg, sgac.com.sg, baclinic.sg and mizuaesthetic.com are cited in the Singapore answer set precisely because they publish practical answers about products Merz manufactures. The manufacturer has the clinical evidence, the consensus papers and the regulatory data that would make those answers authoritative. It publishes none of them in a form an assistant can lift.

merz.com Ranks #7 on Its Own Name — Behind Its Own Careers Site
Positioning, brand estate and category demand across six diagnostic queries
Category Signal Test: Named on Brand Questions, Absent on Category Questions
CriticalWe ran six queries through ChatGPT and Google in Singapore to diagnose where the brand sits on the demand curve. The split is clean enough to act on. On the two questions that contain the word Merz, the brand appears: named and cited on the branded question, named and cited in the three-way comparison against Galderma and Allergan Aesthetics, where it was described as 'precision, innovation, premium niche positioning'. On the three questions a patient or a clinic would actually type — which fillers, which toxins, where do I buy Belotero — Merz-owned domains do not appear in the top 20 organic results at all, and no Merz-owned domain was recorded in any AI Overview source set.
The most instructive answer is the filler question. ChatGPT recommended eight brands, two of them — Belotero and Radiesse — manufactured by Merz, and attributed neither. The toxin question went slightly better: Xeomin was listed with Merz named as the manufacturer, sourced from a government formulary and two US health publishers. In neither case did a Merz page supply the answer. Six queries is a signal, not a trend — but the direction is consistent across every category question we ran.
Brand Estate Fragmentation: Seven Domains Competing on One Name
CriticalAsk Google what Merz Aesthetics is, in Singapore, and the first page is almost entirely Merz — just not merz.com. merzaesthetics.com holds #2, merzaesthetics.com.sg holds #5, the careers job board holds #6, and merz.com appears at #7. A privacy-policy PDF from the Singapore site takes #8. Further down sit the Ultherapy microsites and the US aesthetics domain. Nine Merz-controlled URLs across seven separate domains, competing with each other on the company's own name.
The same split runs through the AI answer corpus: merz.com is referenced 81 times, merzaesthetics.com 71 — one brand's authority cut roughly in half. In the Singapore cut the numbers collapse to 2 and 1. Galderma, which keeps everything on one host, is referenced 1,110 times globally and 18 times in Singapore. Allergan Aesthetics, 590 and 12. This is not a content problem; it is an estate problem, and it is the single highest-leverage structural decision on the table.
| Domain | Rank on branded SG query | AI answer references (global) | AI answer references (Singapore) |
|---|---|---|---|
| merzaesthetics.com | #2 | 71 | 1 |
| merzaesthetics.com.sg | #5 and #8 | — | — |
| careers.merz-aesthetics.com | #6 | — | — |
| merz.com | #7 | 81 | 2 |
| us.merzaesthetics.com | #21 | — | — |
| galderma.com (one consolidated host) | #1 for its own name | 1,110 | 18 |
| allerganaesthetics.com | — | 590 | 12 |
Competitor Moat: Galderma's Corporate Host Is Built to Receive Singapore Demand
HighGalderma publishes a Singapore page on its corporate domain. It ranks #1 for 'galderma singapore' and contributes to the 63 keywords and 977 estimated monthly visits the domain earns in this market. merz.com's Singapore presence is handled entirely by other hosts, so the corporate domain earns 7 keywords and about 36 estimated monthly visits here — and only one of those keywords sits in positions two or three.
Look at what those seven keywords are: 'merz', 'merz aesthetics', 'merz asia pacific', 'merz aesthetics singapore', 'belotero', 'belotero revive', 'neurotoxin'. Every one is a brand or product name someone already knows. There is no keyword in the set that a person discovering the category would type — no 'how long do fillers last', no 'which anti-wrinkle injection', no cost or comparison term. The domain is harvesting demand it already has and generating none.
The comparison is not that Galderma writes more. It is that Galderma's corporate host is positioned to receive market demand and merz.com is positioned to receive corporate and investor traffic — which is exactly what its 76 news items are about.
Bright Spot: The Singapore Site Wins the Belotero Query That AI Answers With Clinic Names
Bright SpotOne row in this audit should change the meeting. Asked where to get Belotero in Singapore and what it costs, Google ranks merzaesthetics.com.sg at #1 — the highest organic position any Merz property holds on any query we tested. It is the one question where the estate is already winning the search result outright.
ChatGPT, asked the identical question, named five Singapore clinics and cited bayclinic.sg and halley.com.sg. No Merz page, no Merz mention. The #1 organic result did not become the answer.
That is the whole thesis of this audit in a single comparison, and it is good news, because the hard part is already done. The page exists, it ranks, and the demand behind it is measurable — 'belotero' and 'belotero revive' are both live search terms in this market, and the orphaned Belotero article on merz.com ranks for the term despite having no path to it from the navigation. Two properties, both earning positions on the product, neither converting that into an AI citation. The gap between ranking and being cited is now the whole game, and Merz is closer to closing it than the keyword counts suggest.
Roadmap: From 4.6 to 6.7 Across Three Horizons
Sequenced by leverage, not by effort
Site Readiness Score
LLM Visibility Score
Horizon 1 — Fix the Machine-Readable Layer (0-30 days)
+1.5 to +2.0 Site Readiness
Close the Content Hierarchy and Page Signals gaps from Section 04 — the missing homepage headline and description, the two sampled pages without headlines, and the three-link homepage.
Repair the two indexing defects named in Rendering, Bot Access and Delivery: the http:// sitemap declarations and the empty post sitemap that is hiding the Belotero article.
Resolve the 0.627 layout-stability figure that is holding the performance grade at 62.
Extend the existing structured data — which already beats both rivals — to carry company and product identity, so Xeomin, Belotero, Radiesse and Ultherapy are machine-linked to Merz.
Horizon 2 — Build the Answer Layer (30-90 days)
+0.7 to +1.0 Site Readiness, +0.4 to +0.8 AI Visibility
Take the first-mover position identified in Section 05: none of the three domains publishes a question-answer destination, and the Singapore clinics being cited are filling that vacuum with less evidence than Merz holds.
Fix the content-volume gap on the pages that already earn positions — the aesthetics business page at 415 words and the orphaned Belotero article — and return the Belotero article to the navigation.
Resolve the estate question raised in Section 06 before publishing at scale: decide which host receives category demand, so authority stops splitting 81 / 71 across two domains.
Horizon 3 — Earn the Citations (3-6 months)
+0.8 to +1.2 AI Visibility
Work the Citation Source Landscape from Section 02 directly: the medical institutions, consumer health publishers and clinical literature that AI cites in this category carry no manufacturer domain today, in any market cut.
Convert the platform surface into citable assets — 117 YouTube videos and a 2.87M-view top video are an audience, not yet an answer library.
Engage the Singapore clinic sites already being cited on Merz products, and the unowned Reddit threads flagged in the citation surface analysis, as a practitioner-evidence programme rather than a comms exercise.
